I don’t think we have eaten as well as we did in Portugal. It was pretty much 10 days of seafood, piri piri chicken, cheap house red, custard tarts, port and pork!
Custard tarts
We started in Lisbon and spent two days exploring the different neighbourhoods. The Alfama district was a highlight and the views that you can get from the different vantage points are amazing. That night Louise and I shared a chicken Portuguese style with plenty of piri piri sauce – alot nicer than Nandos. Louise was extremely happy because she could finally eat chicken again!!

After the two days we picked up a car and headed for the town of Evora. I tell you what it is know wonder the Portugese roads are in good condition as they like to hit you pretty hard with the tolls.
The highlight of Evora had to be the Capela Dos Ossos a chapel built entirely of human bones. Pretty creepy but pretty cool.

After spending a couple of hours in Evora we headed back to the coast and to the beachside resort of Cascais. It was nice to see some surfers taking advantage of the waves at Guincho beach. But when we headed back for a swim the next morning the clouds have rolled in and on a better inspection it seemed a bit cold.

So we continued driving onto Obidos which didn’t present many accomodation options so it was then onto Nazare. Here we found a beachside apartment which met our needs and we ended up staying three nights. Here we enjoyed plates of cockles, prawns and crabs, went for a swim and just took it easy.

Next stop was Porto were we spent another two nights. All I can say is that if you enjoy port get to Porto. After wandering around the city we made our way across the river to Gaia to indulge in what the port houses had to offer. We ended up at Taylors and enjoyed some fine 20 year old port.

So after 10 days our Portugal trip was over and it also signalled the end of our Europe trip. On Friday we made our way back to London for the last weekend. We were greeted by beautiful weather and everyone wandering around in shirts and shorts. A far cry from we left 6 weeks ago.

So that concludes Eurpoe bring Asia on!!!
